Windows 8. Need more help? Expand your skills. Get new features first. Was this information helpful? Yes No. Thank you! Any more feedback? I disabled my folder redirection after it became too much of a hassle. I had been experiencing reorganization of my start menu, links intermittently disabled and then reappearing, and long logon times so I disabled redirected folders.

The start menu and desktop both worked fine and are showing that they are local but when I open My Documents from the start menu it still goes to the redirected folder’s copy.

I have restarted twice since then and checked the server and enabled and disabled folder redirection again to to ensure that it enforces that its disabled. Any ideas what I can do or why this is happening? The folder redirection GPO settings include an option to remove the redirection or not when the group policy setting no longer applies.

By default, this setting is set to leave the redirection in place after the GPO is removed. So that’s probably what happened here. You removed the GPO, but it was set to keep the redirection in place anyway.

You’ll need to go back to your folder redirection GPO and set it redirect back to you local user profile location, instead of just setting folder redirection back to Not Configured.

Server 2012 essentials folder redirection not working windows 10 free. How to disable Folder Redirection

I have a Server Domain with mostly all Windows 10 workstations. I have a group policy that redirects the local My Documents folder to a network share. This seems to randomly deactivate. I have the policy applying via a Security Group. The user shows in the correct security group, and is in the correct OU. Have you made sure you’ve got Domain Computers in the Delegation Tab? No I only have the security Group I am doing user filtering on in the delegation tab.

Do I need to add Domain Computers in? Why are you filtering that way, though? Not always possible of course which is why there are so many other options, but when possible, do it. Its a kind of after the fact thing we started doing, we didn’t have the space and didn’t have the process buttoned down to how we wanted it to work.

This is the way it worked for what we wanted at как сообщается здесь time. Ah, I see. Or, if not, can they easily be placed in one? We need to rebuild the GPO the guy that built it put everything in one object so when we need to change anything we have to filter thru the whole thing to find what we need. Yeah, that may even be part of the issue. One big GPO having to be processed at server 2012 essentials folder redirection not working windows 10 free I would, at the very least, make a new GPO just for the folder redirection.

Keep it exactly as is for now, if you want. Just pull it out of that one huge one to see if that helps. After adding Domain Computers to the filter it popped right away. I will continue to monitor and go from there. We do have some instances where we have service account or other users that are used across all sites that we do not want the my documents pushed across the server 2012 essentials folder redirection not working windows 10 free. Thus far that seems to be doing the trick however.

Use the scripts below to further make sure your GPOs are setup server 2012 essentials folder redirection not working windows 10 free the proper permissions.

And while Domain Computers do work, Authenticated Users as Read permissions is still the best practice. You’ve removed Authenticated Users from the scope tab that’s fine but then you have to add the Authenticated users group to your Delegation tab with READ permissions The Authenticated Users group is one of several security principals in Windows that correspond with certain roles, types of logon sessions, and so on.

Each security server 2012 essentials folder redirection not working windows 10 free has a corresponding SID. At any rate, you are correct. If the Security Filtering section is set to Authenticated Users, no you don’t. It’s only when you remove Authenticated Users that you need to add Domain Computers to the Delegation tab. There have been quite a few posts from people saying that adding Authenticated Users didn’t work properly, but adding Domain Computers did.

That’s why I’ve started suggesting Domain Computers. The redirection GPO is separate from the one big one. We are slowly but surely fixing the giant one to make it more manageable. If you think about that, it doesn’t make sense. OverDrive wrote: LarryG. Well I’ll be damnned Read these next

Was this information helpful? Yes No. But Folder Redirection GP is not working any ideas? All updates are installed, users added, computers all connected fine with client connect software. But for whatever reason the Redirection GP doesn’t want to work on any machine on the network all win 7 pro.

It stopped working a while ago and decided since my environment is small I’d do a clean install after backing up the few users data to an external hd. As S Lee says, permssions and paths are your most likely culprits. Below the following does not appear on any other computer like it does on this one that works Sorry been working since pm yesterday LOL. I tried both the things you suggested and it didn’t work.

I removed both default folder redirection gp’s and reapplied them. It still works on the one machine here’s some screen shots of a folder security permissions and what the policy is loading on the only working machine. Whats the Share Permissions on the Folder? Or in the System Folder on the clients? Thank you S.

Lee for sticking with me on this! I’ll be in the office in an hour. Pulled a 24 hour shift so I’m a bit Slooooow today :. Just in looking around I’m seeing this has to be a permissions error. I would assume that the permissions on the server would be correct from a new GPO created using the dashboard after removing the old one by hand. It is working on ONE machine. Then agian none of the systems are even making a user folder in “Folder Redirection” except the one in the conference room.

Ad profile paths are empty including the one that is working. Go back to your first thought lol you seemed like you were getting somewhere lol! My Second Theory, is it policy is applied, but can go anywhere because the user profile ant set, Had this issue before when i was learnnig about DFS, Permssions and Folder Redir.

That’s very odd that the ONE working client has nothing in there along with every other user. So I should point that to a folder named their user name in the Folder Redirection folder even though those folders are supposed to have special permissions attached to them so only they can access them?

Still a bit odd I just brought another older system online and folder redirection is working on any account I put on that machine similar to the one that was working.

Yet everyone else doesn’t have it. And I know you said the AD info should point to a dir but it doesn’t for these users including myself admin on any other machines. This may be long and sorry for the delay I took an extended holiday break.

Here is a result on a non functioning computer:. So still sitting here trying to get GP Redirect to work. I’ve not made any changes to the server since the redeployment of it. Anyone have any more suggestions on how to get GP Redirect to work on all the machines it’s not all but 2? Hey S. Lee I had to link to the file on my personal drop box as it’s a long.
