Simply put, nothing else even comes close to his level of completeness, detail and accuracy. These are heavy tomes, to be sure, necessary to include all the information covered, including the ample examples necessary to illustrate techniques and results.
Not for those in a hurry, at least as a learning tool, but still very worth having as a reference, especially when encountering a difficult challenge in editing a photo. This is the 3rd book written by M. I’ve been using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom for umpteen years and have owned books by 3 other authors – none compare to Evenings.
Excellent reference, 2 thumbs up! I have been making pictures since the mid-fifties, first with film, and then digital. For most of that time I had a wet darkroom. Lightroom is the key to making beautiful images, as well as organizing hundreds of thousands of images spanning more than 60 years. Not the best book for learning the software. Writing is not easy to follow and I have not found it to be of much value.
YouTube training videos are much better and free. One person found this helpful. Well thought out by an excellent writer. This is the book for Lightroom for photographers. Extremely complete reference book After the first chapter or so, you can skip to chapters you are particularly interested it. My must buy for each new version of Adobe Photoshop. Very detailed explanations with lots and lots of screenshots and photos to illustrate each thing. Highly recommend! A must have to learning Lightroom.
